Full Stack AI Engineer
Maverick AI is an Italian startup specializing in Artificial Intelligence, Agentic AI, and business process automation. We work as a system integrator focused on the Anthropic/Claude ecosystem, developing AI solutions for enterprise and mid-market companies in the Italian and European markets.
We're looking for a freelance AI Engineer & Developer to work closely with the founder, contributing directly to the technical development and architecture of our AI solutions. VAT-registered collaboration, with a strong operational component and broad decision-making autonomy. The role is designed to evolve toward a tech leadership position as the team grows.
Responsibilities
- Design and development of AI agents, multi-agent systems, and LLM-based automations
- Development and maintenance of MCP servers and custom connectors for enterprise system integration
- Advanced integration with Anthropic (Claude) APIs: tool use, streaming, prompt caching, batch API
- Definition of technical architecture for client AI solutions
- Full-stack development in Python and Next.js/TypeScript
- Containerization (Docker) and deployment in cloud and on-premise environments
- Translating business requirements into technical specifications and working code
- Technical support to the sales team and founder in pre-sales activities
- Contributing to the definition of development, testing, and integration standards
Requirements
- At least 3–4 years of experience as Senior Developer / AI Engineer
- Hands-on experience developing LLM-based solutions in production
- Deep knowledge of Anthropic/Claude APIs or equivalent providers (OpenAI, Google)
- Experience developing AI agents with tool use and multi-step orchestration
- Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and ability to develop custom MCP servers
- Strong advanced prompt engineering skills
- Full-stack experience in Python and Next.js/TypeScript
- Working knowledge of Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong decision-making autonomy and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Hands-on attitude and problem solving
Nice to have
- Experience with Claude Code or AI-assisted development tools
- Knowledge of RAG, vector databases, and embeddings
- Familiarity with multiple LLM providers for comparative evaluations
- Previous experience managing technical teams
